GRETCHEN PERRY-EMERY, MSN, FNP-BC, NP-C, FMAPS
Gretchen is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who pursued an advance degree to help others overcome challenges similar to those she has faced. Her personal experience of healing herself and family members from diseases like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Chronic Lyme, and other autoimmune states has helped her develop a special empathy and an extra measure of compassion when working with patients. For over ten years, she has been working with Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) approaches to healing.
In 1994 Gretchen received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Michigan State University. She entered the workforce as an RN in the Maternal Child Health unit at Royal Oak Beaumont. After a few years, she entered the Pharmaceutical industry and learned about clinical trials, competitive selling, and marketing.
In 2005, autism touched her personally, and when Westernized medicine could not provide the answers she was seeking, she began to dig deeper, knowing in her heart recovery was possible. It was then that she was introduced to functional medicine, and over time, her knowledge and passion for this new kind of medicine grew.
In 2015 Gretchen graduated from an accelerated MSN-FNP program and achieved dual board certification from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Gretchen is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of others and is an active member of the American Nurses Association, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Physicians for Informed Consent Network, a PANDAS network of providers, and a Fellow of the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family, outdoor activities, serving others through the church or community, and advocating for medical freedom.
Gretchen approaches healing from a holistic perspective, using minimally invasive approaches and biomedical modalities first. She is persistent and inquisitive about the identification of root causes and possesses a solid knowledge of functional medicine, nutrigenomics, epigenetics, and overriding SNPs of methylation/detoxification pathways. In her practice, she regularly uses pharmaceutical-grade supplements and compounded pharmaceuticals to treat disease. Gretchen is dedicated to bringing wellness naturally to patients and is excited to help those who have lost hope find it again through the art of holistic healing-based on a Functional Medicine paradigm.
